about

Christina Sangita - Singer and composer of healing mantra music

At the age of five, Christina Sangita accompanied her parents to India for the first time. The country and its people made such a lasting impression on her that she adopted a new middle name on the occasion of her baptism a short time later: Sangita, a name she felt drawn to while in India. As she later learned, this name means "the music maker."

Christina Sangita began her musical training at an early age. She began playing the piano at age 10 and commenced classical voice training shortly thereafter at the renowned Musikhochschule in Detmold and elsewhere. She was subsequently introduced to the guitar and began vocational training in kinesiology.

In India at the age of 19, she met her spiritual master, Avatar Sri Balasai Baba. This encounter moved her so deeply that she resolved to teach physical education and dance to the pupils of a boarding school in India for a year following her final exams. She was thus able to teach by day and concentrate on the words of her master in the evenings and on weekends. At the same time, she delved into Eastern teachings on wisdom and into the depths of her own consciousness.

Thanks to this experience she was able to rediscover her love of music and subsequently devote her attention to the country’s holy songs and chants.
Her experiences with the musical traditions of the East and West merge in her European concerts. When Christina Sangita sings, it is as if the encounter with the Divine finds direct expression. Her voice expresses a rare clarity and purity. Following her concerts, members of the audience often describe feeling more tranquil, happy, and more connected with themselves.

Christina Sangita is a state-certified movement therapist, an accredited social care worker for handicapped people, alternative practitioner for psychotherapy, as well as a certified awareness mentor and Enneagramm coach. She is currently engaged in an intensive study with Anandra George in the field of classical Indian music and Nāda Yoga.
